Hip Reset Protocol: Stretch First, Then Move with Control
💡 Think of this like unlocking a door (Couch Stretch), then walking through it with confidence (Hip CARs).
✅ Couch Stretch (2-4 Sets, 30-60 Seconds Each Side)
This targets the hip flexors, which get shortened from long periods of sitting. If you’re someone who’s constantly slouched at a desk or in a car, your hips are likely stuck in an anterior tilt. This stretch begins to unwind that tension.

Quick Tips:
- Use a couch, bench, or padded wall
- Keep ribs down and squeeze glutes to protect the low back
- You should feel a strong (but tolerable) stretch down the front of the hip and thigh
✅ Hip CARs (2-4 Controlled Rotations Each Direction, Each Side)
Once you’ve opened the front of the hip, now it’s time to use the range. CARs—Controlled Articular Rotations—teach your body to own the new mobility with slow, full-circle movements of the hip joint.
These are active, strength-based moves designed to:
- Improve joint health
- Build coordination and control
- Reduce the risk of compensation or injury

Quick Tips:
- Hold onto a wall or chair for balance
- Move slowly, trace the biggest circle possible without shifting your spine
- Breathe throughout—this isn’t a race
Why This Hip Reset Combo Works So Well
The key to sustainable mobility is balancing passive range (like stretching) with active control (like CARs). Most people do one or the other—and wonder why nothing sticks.
This Hip Reset targets both ends:
- First, you lengthen and decompress with the Couch Stretch
- Then, you strengthen and stabilize with Hip CARs
The result? Less tension. More confidence in your movement. Better walking, squatting, lunging, or just living.
