How do you use social media?

Not the version you tell people when you’re giving advice…

How do You use SOCIAL MEDIA

I mean really.. how do you use social media?

Because if I’m being real with you, I use it just like anyone else.

I scroll. I get sucked into reels. I zone out.

I tell myself I’m “staying connected” but more often than not, I’m just disconnected from the present.

I’ll spend 30 minutes trying to create something with meaning, something that might impact someone—and still end up closing the app feeling… empty.

It’s easy to forget why we use these platforms in the first place.

And even easier to lose ourselves in the algorithm.

How Do You Use Social Media to Build a Dream?

We all say we want to chase our dreams, but the moment we sit down to do the hard stuff, resistance hits.

We procrastinate. We doubt. We talk ourselves out of even trying.

How do you use social media in that moment?

For me, I use it to test ideas.

To feel things out.

To see who resonates with what I believe in.

To find my people—the ones who see past the likes and views and see the heart behind the content.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to monetize my content.

Not for the clout—but for the freedom. The impact.

But deep down, there’s this programming that whispers:

“That’s not for you.”

“You’re not built for that.”

“Social media is fake. People like you don’t make it here.”

But here’s the contradiction…

Everyone is on social media looking for something real.

Even if we don’t say it out loud.

Using Social Media Without Losing Yourself

I want to use these platforms with intention.

I want to be happy, successful, useful.

Not just online, but in real life.

But I also know the only thing standing in my way—

Is me.

The truth is, self-sabotage doesn’t always look like destruction.

Sometimes, it looks like distraction.

It’s the scrolling instead of posting.

The overthinking instead of sharing.

The comparing instead of creating.

So again I ask: How do you use social media?

Live with integrity— Liars Don’t Heal.

If the answer doesn’t sit right with you, good.

It means you still care.

It means you still want more out of life.

And you’re not alone in that.

Final Thoughts from Dr. John D.C.

Social media is a mirror.

Sometimes it reflects who we are.

Sometimes it shows us who we’re pretending to be.

And sometimes, it reveals the person we’re too afraid to become.

Let’s not get stuck just consuming.

Let’s not get trapped thinking everyone else has it figured out.

Because no one does.

We’re all figuring it out. One post, one idea, one messy try at a time.

Let’s keep working on ourselves—whether we consume or not—focus more on creating, cause that’s what life is about, regardless of what others say.

Dr. John D.C.
